What this site knows about you.

The short version

Taste by Journey is run by one person as a personal project. It has no user accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no contact form. It does not ask you for your name, your email address or any other detail about you, and it has no database of visitors.

What it does have is Google Analytics, which counts visits and tells the operator which pages people look at — and it runs only if you agree to it. Until you do, the Analytics script is never even downloaded, so it cannot set a cookie or see anything. Decline and it stays that way permanently.

Everything else described below is the unavoidable technical exhaust of loading a web page — the hosting provider writes a server log, the font service sees a request for a font.

What is collected

Analytics — only with your agreement. This site uses Google Analytics 4, gated behind the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you have not agreed, none of what follows happens at all. If you have, it records the page you are on, the page that referred you, an approximate location derived from your IP address (city level, not the address itself), your device type, browser and language, and how long you stay. Google Analytics assigns your browser a random identifier stored in a cookie so that two page views in one session are counted as one visit rather than two strangers. That identifier is not linked to a name, and this site never attempts to work out who you are.

Server logs. The site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel records the requests it serves — IP address, timestamp, the URL requested, the response status, and the browser's user-agent string. These logs exist to keep the service running and to investigate abuse. The operator does not mine them and does not build profiles from them.

Nothing else. There is no advertising identifier collected by this site directly, no fingerprinting script, no session recording, no heatmap tool, no chat widget, and no third-party social embed. Prompts you copy and images you download are not recorded — the copy button writes to your clipboard in the browser and the site is never told that you pressed it.

Who else sees it

Loading any page here causes your browser to contact a small number of companies. Each one necessarily sees your IP address, because that is how the internet delivers a response. They are:

• Vercel — hosting and the image optimizer that serves every thumbnail. See Vercel's privacy policy.
• Google — Analytics, and the Google Fonts service that delivers the two typefaces this site uses. See Google's privacy policy.
• Supabase — the database the collection is stored in, and the file storage the images live in. In normal browsing your browser never talks to Supabase for images: thumbnails are fetched by Vercel's optimizer on your behalf. It is contacted directly in two cases — the gallery data itself, and when you use the full-quality download button, which links straight to the stored file. See Supabase's privacy policy.

No data is sold, rented or traded, and nothing is shared with anyone beyond the providers above other than where the law requires it.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. It is intended to, through Google AdSense, and this section describes what that will involve so the position is clear before anything changes.

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors — including Google — use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or to other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

This page will be updated on the day ads first appear, and the date at the top of it will change to say so.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep. The ones in play here are:

• Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — the random visit identifier described above. Set by Google, typically kept for up to two years. Only ever set if you accepted.
• Your consent choice itself — whichever button you pressed is saved in your browser's local storage so you are not asked on every page. It is not a cookie, it is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it — after which you will be asked again.
• Advertising cookies — none today. If advertising is enabled, Google and its partners will set their own; see the section above.
• Your theme choice — when you use the light / dark toggle, the setting is saved in your browser's local storage. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to any server, and it never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Your choices

• Change your mind at any time. "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page reopens the banner. Withdrawing is one click, exactly like agreeing was — and if Analytics had been loaded, the page reloads so it is not running any more.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The gallery works normally without them; only your saved theme choice is lost.
• Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop Analytics measuring you on every site, not just this one.
• Turn on Do Not Track or your browser's tracking protection. This site sets nothing that survives it.
• Email the address below to ask what is held about you, or to ask for it to be deleted.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, the operator is the data controller for the analytics described above and can be reached at the address below. The legal basis for analytics is your consent, asked for before any non-essential cookie is set; the legal basis for server logs is legitimate interest in keeping the site available and free of abuse.

You have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawing it is as easy as giving it. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

The providers named above operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, under the transfer mechanisms set out in their own policies.

If you are in California

This site does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA and CPRA, and it does not knowingly handle the personal information of anyone it has been told is a minor. You may still email the address below to ask what is held, to ask for deletion, or to ask for correction, and you will not be treated differently for asking.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, is not designed to appeal to them, and does not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has provided information here, email the address below and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — a new third party, a new category of data, advertising going live — will be described here rather than folded in quietly.
